Please be aware, it is difficult to see our building from the road. We are directly behind the Easy Rental building, between the Marietta Bowling Lanes and the McDonalds. Do not enter the main entrance of the building, but keep going until you see the door for Studio E and E-2.

Biography

Atlanta based artist Lisa S. Duncan aka Archen as been painting for over thirty years. Her love of portraiture and costume naturally combine to help her create one of a kind images of characters from plays, stories and imagination. From her earliest years reading fairy tales over and over to her degree in Medieval English Literature from Oglethorpe University, her fascination with characters and costumes is deeply ingrained and well researched. Work on both sides of the stage in theatre, film and modeling helped cement her love of dressing up everyone and everything around her. With works shown throughout the Southeast, she can be found in many local festivals, whether Medieval, Scottish or Fantasy.

Artist's Statement

Through portraits I strive to capture the spirit of a subject's persona, expressing the magic of stepping into another place and time.

Paintings should capture a moment in time. They should take you somewhere else and show you something you haven't seen before. Portraits should  not only show you what a person looks like, they should show you a piece of who a person is.

Speak to any artist for any length of time and you begin to understand that the world looks different through our eyes. In a flash, the colors of waves become mesmerizing and a sprig of mint becomes a masterpiece. More importantly, the connections between the waves, the mint and you as a piece of the universe suddenly spring into focus. My art is my expression of belief, the lessons I have learned.

Beauty in all its forms, both physical and spiritual, inhabit our lives whether we realize this or not. May you see and understand more through my work.
